Overhead, sloped & Rooflight Glazing

Glass Partners offers a wide range of additional products such as overhead, sloped & roof glazing

Glass roof is produced with features like, large deflection – much more than the glass thickness, non-linear behavior and generation of web stresses. We use standard design formulas like Roark to give a conservative design. We produce for four edge support and two edge support. We design loads from SANS 10160 Part 2 including point load and distributed load plus self-weight.

Overhead, sloped & roof glazing requires specialized glazing and need to be signed off by a structural engineer.

Glass Walkways

Glass Partners offers a wide range of additional products such as glass walkways.

Our glass walkways features small deflection – much less than the glass thickness. We use standard design formulas like Roark. We produce for four edge support and two edge support. Our design loads from SANS 10160 Part 2 including point load plus self-weight and distributed load plus self-weight. If the bottom leaf breaks the rest of the construction must take the load.

The above products require specialized glazing and need to be signed off by a structural engineer.

Balustrading

Balustrading is a system solution and needs to be signed off by a structural engineer.

Using toughened or toughened laminated structural glass, specially designed for use as a balustrade, you can create a structural barrier that creates no obstruction through a space with a minimal contemporary finish throughout a build.

Underwater Observation Panels

Underwater observation panels require a system solution and need to be signed off by a structural engineer.

We require three critical dimensions, the width, height and depth below the overflow. Not the volume of water.

Bullet Resisting Glass

Bullet Resistant Glass consists of a multilayer sequence of laminated glass and polyvinyl butyral interlayers that resists penetration of ammunition according to the level set. The glass provides a robust, protective barrier against gunfire, from small handguns to large calibre weapons. Bullet-resistant glass withstands close-range attacks from small handguns or large calibre weapons. From military armoured vehicles and government buildings, to security windows and doors, the glass provides maximum protection with minimum thickness in areas where serious threats are a real possibility.

Acoustic Glass

THERMO-SAFE GP AcousticStop Acoustic Glass. Normal strength laminated safety glass provides better sound control than monolithic glass of the same thickness, due to the visco-elastic properties of the polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayer providing a dampening effect on the transmission of sound waves. Conventional laminated glass with a single normal strength (NS) polyvinyl butyral interlayer – 6.38mm thick – is rated at 33 dB. 8,76mm AcousticStop with a 0.76mm HPR acoustic interlayer is rated at 37 dB and provides a noticeable improvement in sound reduction.

Sound Reduction index. Every 10 dB is perceived as twice as loud, so that a 20dB reduction would reduce the noise level by four times.

Sound transmission loss (S.T.L.) values are mean, measured at the centre frequency of the 1/3 octave band, over the frequency range 100 to 5000Hz, centre of glass.

It is important to understand that acoustic glass should be part of the entire construction system solution, i.e. the framing and insulation of the building.
