Manufacturing of toughened safety glass;

Float or patterned glass is heated to approximately 700° C and rapidly cooled.

This process makes the glass up to 5 times stronger than normal annealed float glass. Ideally suited to resist thermal shock where annealed or laminated glass may be susceptible to fracture. Cutting, edge working or drilling must be done prior to toughening. Once toughened, glass cannot be changed.
